The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is a major political party in Taiwan that has been associated with the Pan-Green Coalition and the movement for Taiwanese independence.
Frank Hsieh replaced Chen Shui-Bian as the chairman of the DPP in 2008, after the DPP lost 81 out of 113 seats in the legislative election to the Kuomintang (KMT) party.
