About 1.3 billion people live in China. To put this in perspective, only about 0.3 billion people live in the United States.
And to make those numbers really hit home, only about 48,715 people live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
If you do the math, that’s about 27,000 Chinese for each individual person who lives in Chapel Hill.
My goal is to bring you closer to each one of these people by reporting on culture, social issues, and politics from the People’s Republic of China and making it local.
You may wonder how a country so far away with so many people could ever have anything to do with the Triangle or with you.
You’d be surprised…get ready to make 27,000 new friends.
